Code of Conduct

The SWFC believes that the future of agriculture, and specifically the fertilizer industry, is best served when all of those in the community are empowered regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, and/or religious creed. The leadership of the conference is strongly committed to promoting and sustaining an ethical and inclusive conference.

This Code of Conduct is designed to outline expectations of behavior for individuals participating in the Southwestern Fertilizer Conference. These organizational values are set forth to be clear to members, leadership, and staff. The core standards are:

  1. Respect and uphold public laws that govern the industry.

  2. Be honest and fair in conducting the business.

  3. Respect the confidentiality of information gained through business conversations.

  4. Act fairly in all dealings.

  5. Promote an ethical culture recognized by others.

  6. Be responsible for one’s conduct.

  7. Refrain from inappropriate behavior and comments that are discriminatory, harassing, abusive, offensive, or unwelcome.

This Code is expected to be viewed as a demonstration of respect for oneself, others and the resources entrusted to them. Those resources may include people, money, reputation, the safety of others, and natural or environmental resources. This Code is designed to create an environment where diverse perspectives and views are encouraged and valued.

The SWFC attendees will exhibit professional behavior in all areas of participation within the conference. Please be considerate, respectful, and collaborative. The SWFC has zero tolerance for any form of discrimination or harassment, either in person or online. If you experience harassment or witness any incidents of unacceptable behavior, the SWFC asks that you submit a report to SWFC@SWFertilizer.org or call (512) 259-2118 immediately so that appropriate action can be taken. The SWFC reserves the right to prohibit an attendee’s participation in future conferences if an attendee engages in behavior that is contrary to this Code of Conduct.

For allegations during a conference but received outside the dates of the conference, the following procedures will be followed:

  1. Once an allegation is received, the Executive Committee will meet to review the allegation of conduct that violates the Code of Conduct.

  2. Upon a majority vote of the Executive Committee, the Chair will notify the attendee in writing that the conduct of the attendee violated the requirements in this Code of Conduct. Such communication will describe the particular concern(s) at issue.

  3. The attendee will be given an opportunity to present his or her case to the Executive Committee.

  4. After presenting his or her case, the attendee will then be dismissed so the Executive Committee can consider in Executive Session whether the attendee’s conduct warrants a warning or reprimand, or if the attendee is prohibited from future attendance at the conference.

  5. Should the Executive Committee conclude that the attendee should be barred from future attendance at the conference, the attendee shall be notified in writing by certified mail at least fifteen (15) days before the ban takes effect.

The Executive Committee reserves the right to take emergency action on allegations received during the conference. Depending upon the circumstances, the Executive Committee reserves the right to immediately terminate an attendee’s participation in the conference.
